Dear Vicky,

I hope this letter finds you in the best of spirits. Hope you are having a great time at school. We had an interesting seminar today. The topic was "Role of Agriculture in the development of India". I loved the session, and I have jotted down a few points. Thought to share those with you because I feel it is in our hand to help agriculturists in their occupation and trust me its not a favour we do on them but our self and our country. India is an agricultural country.

Agriculture remains to be the most important occupation of many Indian families. Agriculture not only includes growing crops but also the rearing of animals for agricultural purposes.

Role of Agriculture in the development of India.

Source of Economic growth: Agriculture is known as the backbone of Indian economy. It provides raw materials for a large sector of industries.

Source of food for consumption: Food is essential in life for every living thing. We all depend on agricultural products for our food requirements.

Exporting the products: India exports food and agricultural products such as jute, coffee, tea, spices and sugar. It helps in increasing foreign exchange.

Occupation: Agriculture is the primary occupation for many in India. Rural women are also engaged in agriculture.

Agro-based Industries: Many agricultural products are supplied to industries which are then processed and produce finished products.

Green Revolution: The green revolution began in India with an objective to give great emphasis on agriculture. The productivity of the land will provide a huge economic boost to the nation.

We in our school have decided to form a team just like guides and NSS to support agriculture. Looking forward to meeting you in the summer holidays. Convey my regards to aunt and uncle. Til then take care and bye.

Yours friendly,

Rahul.
