Dear Preethi ,

The recent flood in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh broke all past records. The water level had never risen so high or the duration too long.  Normal activities in this area have long ceased. Many people became homeless, with no food or clothes. Human misery knows no bounds. This flood severely damaged the crops in this area.

A herd of cattle has been razed to the ground and thousands of people have fled on roofs, boats and embankments, now they are in the open. In addition, the flood has already begun claiming many lives; Cholera, diarrhea, typhoid, dysentery etc. have kicked off here and there, which can become an epidemic at any time. The affected people now need food, clothing, medicine and clean drinking water.

The government and other organizations must come forward to help alleviate the misery of the people affected. Aid camps must be opened. The government needs to provide credit so that they can lead their families again and save their lives from certain death.

About 90% of the houses of this union have been flooded, most of the people have found refuge on the street and the embankment, some people have not left their houses but live there on bamboo platforms, some have taken refuge on the roof of the building. House This is a pathetic scene. The victims lead an inhuman life together with their children and animals.

The lack of food, shelter, clean water, and medicine has made the whole world wretched. Some of the volunteer organizations that run the charities distribute dry food, clothing, clean water or salt and money to the victims. Lifeboats transported critical patients.

The relocation of a medical team was also highlighted. Around 5 p.m., a helicopter with lots of relief supplies landed on the roof of a local elementary school. When they saw a helicopter, hundreds of people gathered in hopes of a handful of food.

I wish to utilize this space to request the concerned authorities and the general public to come forward and help rescue the flood victims faster. Contributions and donations, in the form of cash or any other kind, is much required to provide food, basic essentials and medicines to them.  I hope more relief is sent to the flood hit area as soon as possible.

Yours lovingly,

Rahul Sharma
