Dear Mahi:

I hope this letter finds you in perfect health and happiness at the beginning of the New Year. I am going to share with you how I spent my winter break far from the madding crowd. As you already know, my uncle lives in a remote village in Himachal Pradesh, I spent one week in that sylvan and idyllic village. During the winter the village is just a white heaven. Everything is covered in snow. Most of the time we have to stay inside as the temperature is many degrees below zero. You must be wondering then why I wanted to go there. Well, I love it this way. Every moment is extraordinary. From the windows, I get to see vistas of indescribable beauty which we can only find there. The trees are covered with icicles. The streams are frozen. In order to keep the inside of the house warm, fireplace has to be kept lighted all the time. The silence is wonderful. And the food and air are so salubrious. I had a full rejuvenating week at the village. I always look forward to this paradise of beauty. The rest is fine. Where do you spend your winter break? Give parnam to uncle and aunt.

Yours lovingly,

Ashu

Dear Suman,

During the Christmas, holidays me and my two other friends went to the remotest village in Jharkhand, and the name of the town was Kendadih.

It was some 35 kilometers from Ghatsila, and there were no electricity, mobile phone signals, and pucca houses.

It was a village without the essential modern amenities, yet people were very happy doing cultivation.

They were very poor but were of a golden heart.

We almost stayed for a week and felt to go back there again to get refreshed.

Yours lovingly

Anupama.
