First of all in this letter we have to ask them like how are you as usual. Then in the second paragraph we have write which was the friend's place, the places visited by you then how did you enjoy at that moment.
If there is any special object for that place like hat, food, flower or anything, if you brought it, then explain something about it. At last write like i would like to visit there once again and etc.
If you went with your friend, you could also remind him / her about the comedies or things that can and could not be forgotten before ending your letter.
This would make your friend to feel happier.
