Greetings from Bhopal! I hope you are all in the pink of health and spirits. We are all well here. In fact, I have some great news to share with you.  Do you remember me telling you that I badly wanted a new cycle and was saving up for it? Well, I got a brand new cycle and that too without having to spend from my savings!

 

Actually, the government recently launched the Badiki Vastha programme. As part of the plan, they were giving away free bicycles to girls in the 9th standard. I did not know about the initiative. When my friend told me about it, I did not quite bother about it because you know how government schemes are. There is no guarantee of the aid reaching the people it is meant to benefit.

 

One fine day we heard news of girls from the neighbouring village getting new cycles. I became a little hopeful. The next thing we got to know was that they had run out of cycles. That sent my hopes dashing to the ground. A week later, out of the blue, the principal announced that there would be a cycle distribution at recess. You won’t believe how thrilled I was!

 

Luckily, I got a red cycle. You know how I love red. Going to school has become so much easier now. It barely takes me ten minutes on the cycle. I can now wake up half an hour later than I used to and still be full of energy when I reach school. My new bicycle has definitely made life easier for me. I will let you ride it when you come next. Plan your next trip soon.

How are you? Hope your parents are keeping well too. I hope you are enjoying your classes. I have begun to like my new school too.

Do you remember how I was telling you it is quite far for me to walk to my school from home? However, that problem has been solved thanks to the BADIKI VASTHA programme by our Government. Encouraged by my teacher and parents, I enrolled for this two months. Luckily, my application was accepted and the Government has given me a lady’s bicycle! It is red in color like I always wanted. I am so thrilled and for the past one month I commute to school by this.
