Dear Brother:

I hope this letter finds you in good health. I have written to you because I have come to know that you have been skimping on sleep. You have been misusing the facilities given to you. You don’t know how important proper sleep is for healthy life. Sleep is one of the basics needs, deprivation of which might result in serious health issues.

Sleep is crucial to maintaining one's health. Without it, we increase our susceptibility to an astonishing array of health problems, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity and depression.  Less sleep may even weaken our immune system.

According to Dr. Michael Sole, a Canadian cardiologist, there is a higher rate of heart failure among people with sleep disorders and sleep disturbances. He goes on to emphasize that there is increased evidence of C-reactive protein, an indicator of heart disease risk, in people suffering from sleep loss.

Sleep deprivation leads to obesity. Sleep is important in keeping not only our waistline in shape, but ensuring a balanced brain activity too. During sleep, brain neurotransmitters-the chemicals that deliver messages between nerve cells in the brain-are replenished. When we do not sleep well, our brain chemicals become depleted which leads to emotional disturbances like depression, anxiety and general feelings of sadness, anger and irritation.

Dear brother I gave you these facts and figures just to enlighten you how crucial sleep is for each one of us. I am warning you if you don’t change your life style soon, all the facilities given to you shall be taken back from you. if you cannot use them judiciously, you will lose them. I am hopeful you will mend your ways. Give regards to mother, dad, and grandparents.

Yours affectionately,

Gibran

Dear Avinash

Yesterday I had a talk with mom and she told me about your disturbed routine as you tend to sleep very late in the night. Getting up late in the morning is not possible for you since your school starts at 7.25 in the morning. As a result, you don't take enough sleep which is not a very good sign. Sleep is essential for our physical as mental health and on an average, you should sleep eight hours a day. If you are sleep deprived for long, it will have a telling effect on your health which in turn will affect your performance at school.

My dear brother, try to bring changes in your routine and complete your assignments and revisions during the day time. You know, when we sleep, our body undergoes repair and the cells are reenergized. That's why you must have a sound sleep in the night. I hope you will pay attention to my suggestions and try to bring changes in your routine. Take care of yourself and mom as well.

Yours lovingly

Abhay
