Dear ____,

After having received your report card, we were pained to know that you have fared badly in your half-yearly examination. Besides, it is really shocking to know that you have not even passed in Mathematics and English which are the main subjects.

I have been told by a few friends of yours that you are neglecting studies and devoting more time to cricket practice. It is true that sports have their own importance in student life but nothing should be done at the cost of studies.

I, therefore, advise you not to neglect your studies. Devote time to studies whole-heartedly, lest you should fail even in your annual examination.

I hope that you will pay proper attention to studies and work hard.

Thanking you.

Yours Sincerely,
