A teenage boy who was allegedly kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 50 lakh returned home safe late on Saturday. The boy was dumped by the kidnappers on a road after they saw a police team.

The victim, Raj Pujara (15), is the son of a chartered accountant Ramesh Pujara, a resident of B 43- Simandar Bungalows near Kudasan village in Gandhinagar. When Raj was returning from his tuition classes with his cousin on Saturday around 8:30 pm, three men allegedly kidnapped him at the knife point.

The Gandhinagar police said the kidnappers took the boy in a car. An hour after his abduction, Raj's father received a call saying that "if he wants to see his son alive he must send Rs 50 lakh", police said. The family called police control room and alerted them about the incident. The kidnappers who rushed towards Shahpur Chowkdy after kidnapping the boy had taken him to a house in an unknown area.

The police said kidnappers tried to escape from several routes, however, the heavy police bandobast on roads reportedly left them in a fix. They left Raj on a road in Sector V and fled. A local resident passing from the area arranged an autorickshaw to send the boy home, police said.
