=> The opening ceremony of the 6th Inter High School Sports Meet 2018 organized by Mon Town Students' union (MTSU) was held at Local Ground Mon Town on March 26 with K. Thavaseelan, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, as the chief guest and T. Manhom, BDO, Mon block, as the guest of honour. Addressing the student community, the DC Mon urged the students to navigate life using three principles – faith, hard work and perseverance. Stating that failure and losing are part and parcel of life, Thavaseelan encouraged the students by insisting that the ability to bounce back is what matters. He also voiced the importance of family and friends and reminded the students to stay humbled no matter how successful they become in life. Former Speaker of MTSU, Tingak Konyak in a short speech stated that education means all round development. Education is incomplete without co-curricular activities like games and sports, he viewed and therefore, urged the players to play with sincerity and dedication to excel and be good sportspersons. The opening exhibition match was played between defending champion Anghjong Mission High School and Hindi School with the latter emerging as the winner. A total of 16 schools – both private and government – are participating in the Sports Meet.
