Repetition is a device which repeats 2 or more times again and again in order to make the idea clear, it can be a word, sentence or even a paragraph which is repeated in order to make the reader understand the importance of that idea which is being conveyed by the writer and the repetition of the words or sentences is known more of as a rhetorical device in the prose, poetry or drama.
Example 1:
When I was a child I thought
The new moon was a cradle
The full moon was granny's round face
In this example, the moon is repeated just to show that the subject here is the moon and the emphasis is being given to the moon.
Example: 2
Hickory, Dickory, dock
The mouse ran up the clock
Hickory Dickory, dock
This is the diacope rhetorical repition of the same words to create a rhyming impact but is broken up with the help of other words.
Example 3:
He had such quiet eyes
She did not realize
They were two pools of lies
Layered with thinnest ice
To her, those quiet eyes
The words quiet eyes are repeated twice in order to show that the subject of this is the quiet eyes which is why this is repeated twice.
Example 4:
Mary had a little lamb
Little lamb, little lamb
Mary had a little lamb,
The focus is on the lamb which is why it is repeated again and again in a way that it would rhyme too.
Example 5:
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep
This is the repetition of sentences to show the significance of these lines.
(The examples given are taken from the internet but the explanations are authentic to give you an idea of what repetition actually is, you can use other examples if you want)
