Blood Pressure

  • The pressure at which the blood is elevated versus the wall  of a vessel is called blood pressure.

The pressure of blood inside the artery during ventricular  systole(high) or contraction phase is called the systolic(low) pressure.

The pressure of blood in the artery throughout ventricular  diastole or relaxation phase is called the diastolic pressure.

  • The regular(normal) systolic pressure is about 120 mm Hg. regular(normal) diastolic pressure is 80 mm Hg.

Sphygmomanometer: helpful for measuring blood pressure.

Hypertension - High blood pressure. Cause of Hypertension: constriction of arterioles. It results in increased resistance to the flow of blood which may direct to the rupture of the artery and causes internal bleeding.
