Fare price shops

The prices at which food materials are sold at these ration shops are lower than the market prices. The low pricing is to benefit the poorer strata of society. Fair-price shops keep stock of food grains, sugar and kerosene oil

Under the Targeted Public Distribution System, it is the duty of the State Government to-

(a) take delivery of food grains from the designated depots of the Central Government in the State, at the prices specified,

(b) Organised in The-State allocations for delivery of the allocated food grains through their authorized agencies at the door-step of each fair price shop; and

(c) ensure actual delivery or supply of the food-grains to the entitled persons at the prices specified
