Taking care of chicks isn't easy.
Probably because, they are small, weak and need sometime to adapt to the surroundings.
Management of chicks would be difficult if hen is separated from chicks. The first thing is always put them together.
Give the food at particular time, no ups and downs!
Temperature plays an important role for a chick. As they are sensitive, mainly,exposure to cold would be harmful.
As, when I was kid, I have observed that my grand mom used to cover hen along with the chicks with a basket (maybe because it can keep them warm and there wouldn't be any threat)

The management of chicks:
- The chicks from 0 to 8 weeks need good care in the brooder until they get their feathers. The temperature of the brooder should be 60-100 watt.
- 6 sq inches place needed for the individual chick.
- Brooding should be started from the temperature 95 F and then gradually reduce to 70F in every week.
- The light need to be given throughout the brooding period.
- Water should be arranged.
- Daily monitoring should be done to check the health status of the chick.
