Mahatma Gandhiji, the father of our nation, was sent to this world by Almighty with only one great mission; The Freedom of India! It might be the reason why God called him back to heavens once it was achieved.

Gandhiji, the Man with a great Vision, spent 75% of his life for India & it’s freedom. At last, he was successful on 15th August 1947 when Mother India awoke breathing the air of freedom.

But within a few months of this success, Mother India lost her ‘Father’ :(

On 30-1-1948, Gandhiji was taking with Sardar Vallabhai Patel in Birla House. After meeting, he walked through the garden with Ava Gandhi (grand daughter-in-law) & Manu Gandhi (grand niece) to Prayer Mandap where he used to do his prayers.

He walked only 4 steps when a young man aged 35 came before Gandhiji & offered ‘Pranam’. Gandhiji did the same. Then, he said to Gandhiji, “You are late today for the prayer” & Gandhiji said “yes” with a genuine smile which he always had.

Suddenly, the stranger took his revolver & shot Gandhiji thrice at his heart & stomach. Bapuji collapsed & it was the end of the great Indian Leader.

The final action of Gandhiji was to lift his hands & offered pranam to the large gathering & it is said that his last words were “Hey Ram”.

People who gathered for prayers caught the assassin & handed over him to the Police.

Upon the questioning of Police, he introduced himself as Nathuram Vinayak Godse (36), who worked as the Editor of 'Hindu Rashtra', a daily paper in Pune. Later, people suspected that he’s a lunatic person & therefore given mercy by the court.

Today (30-1-17), we celebrate the 69th death anniversary of our Father of Nation

Let’s pay tribute to him by remember him on this sad day & offering prayers.

Let’s make him happy by fulfilling his dreams for India. #Jai_Hind
