Answer:

The substance of a cell nucleus, especially that not forming part of a nucleolus.

Similar to the cytoplasm of a cell, the nucleus contains nucleoplasm, also known as karyoplasm, or nucleus sap. The nucleoplasm is a type of protoplasm, and is enveloped by the nuclear envelope (also known as the nuclear membrane). The nucleoplasm includes the chromosomes and nucleolus.

It is a highly gelatinous, sticky liquid that supports the chromosomes and nucleoli. A soluble, fluid component of the nucleoplasm is called the nuclear hyaloplasm. The main function of the nucleoplasm is to serve as a suspension substance for the organelles inside the nucleus.

The nucleoplasm acts as a suspension medium for components of the nucleus including the nucleolus, and chromatin. Nucleotides required for DNA replication and enzymes involved in other nuclear processes are also found dissolved within the nucleoplasm.
