A chemical reaction used to synthesize aryl halides from aryl diazonium salts is known as Sandmeyer Reaction. It is an example of radical-nucleophilic aromatic substitution. This is a reaction in which a certain substituent on an aromatic compound is replaced by a nucleophile through an intermediary free radical species.

Sandmeyer reaction gives a method for performing different transformations on benzene, for instance halogenation, cyanation, hydroxylation and trifluoromethylation.

The Sandmeyer reaction is a chemical reaction which is named after the Traugott Sandmeyer who discovered this reaction in the year 1884.

This reaction is mainly used to manufacture aryl halides from the aryl diazonium salts.

This manufacturing process is an example of the radical-nucleophilic aromatic exchange.

Also, Sandmeyer reaction gives a method by which anyone can perform individual conversions on benzene, such as trifluoromethylation, hydroxylation, and much more.
