Stratified Squamous tissue

Explanation:

• A stratified squamous epithelium consists if  epithelial cells which are arranged in layers upon a basal membrane .
• It forms multiple layers of cells resting on a basement membrane.
• Only one layer is in contact with the basement membrane ,while other layers adhere to one another.
• It provides protection against mechanical stress, chemical abrasions etc.
• It is found nearly in every organ i.e from skin to respiratory , digestive, reproductive and excretory system.
• It also prevents dessication and water loss.
