Rajya sabha consists of 250 members, 238 elected and 12 nominated by the President from field of art, science , social science and cooperative management. After every 2 year 1/3rd of the members retire. Each member enjoying the rights for 6 years each.

\implies Unlike Lok Sabha,The Rajya Sabha is a permanent House Which can never be dissolved. After every 2 years,one-third of its member retire and elections are held to fill these seats. Therefore,each member of Rajya Sabha has a term of 6 years.
