The Raja used to hold heavy titles like Agnishtom, Vajpayee, Ashwamedha Yogini, ministers to assist and advise the king in administration. For administrative convenience, the state was divided into various parts, with officers appointed to run the administration. The empire was divided into nations (prefectures) and the chief officer of the nation was called thematic. The nation was divided into Kottam whose officer was called Deshantik. The emperor had a private minister who wrote and announced his orders. Special officers were appointed to collect the state tax, which was called Mandapa and the place where tax was collected was called Mandap.
