Write a note on the main demands of the moderates.

The desire of the moderates was that the government should introduce a number of reforms. They wanted large share in government and expansion and reforms in the legislative council. they demanded the arms act to be repealed executive should be separated from the judiciary and indians should be appointed at higher posts. Abolition of salt tax, development of modern industries reduction of land revenue and and military expenditure were their demands. Education, agriculture, irrigation, medical and health facilities were other demands form the government. They wanted swaraj within the British rule.
