Sarojini Naidu (née Chattopadhyay; 13 February 1879 – 2 March 1949) was an Indian independence activist and poet who earned the sobriquet of Nightingale of India. She was born in a Bengali Hindu family in Hyderabad. She was educated in Chennai, London and Cambridge. She married Dr. Govindarajulu Naidu and settled down in Hyderabad. She took part in the Indian nationalist movement, became a follower of Mahatma Gandhi and fought for the attainment of Swaraj or independence. She became the President of Indian National Congress and was later appointed as Governor of the United Provinces, now Uttar Pradesh. She was the first woman Governor of the Republic of India. Known as the 'Nightingale of India'she was also a noted poet. Her poetry includes children's poems, nature poems, patriotic poems and poems of love and death. She also wrote poetry in praise of Muslim figures like Imam Hussain, in a time where Muslim-Hindu tensions ran high in pre-independence era. Issues regarding the split of India into a Muslim country and a Hindu country have already begun, and as she had got an inter-caste and inter-regional marriage in a time where this was uncommon, her goal was to bring all of India together regardless of any caste or religion.

hope it helps you ✌️

hey mate ,

Sarojini Naidu.

There is one person whose contributions made a lot of difference for women in a country where they were simply "caretaker " or nurtures. As a child sarojini naidu was very bright student . she was proficient in 6 languages ;hindi ,English ,Persian, urdu, telugu, and bengali . she began writing fiction at the age of 12. her father after she aced her matriculation exam from the madras university, wanted her to be a mathematician but sarojini expressed her desire to be poet. she wrote a poem that was 1300 line long called" lady of the lake" which impressed her father. in 1905 her collection of poem was published under the title "the golden threshold ". later her poem collection "the birds of time" and "the broken wings" were published. both of these attacked a wide readership in India and England,.

sarojini Naidu is one of the most celebrated poets of India known for the lyrical and musical nature of her writing using many rhymes and meters filled with rich imaginary. this earned her title" the nightingale of India."

I hope it helps u ❤❣
