• At the Buddha's feet, he collapsed.
• While living with Buddha, Angulimala was practising very stringent austerities.

• You have now acquired a very nice level; now go and teach, the Buddha said to him. Now this man travels to those areas where he had gathered the fingers in order to impart knowledge to the locals.
• When someone approached him and said, "What happened?" He had such a big smile, yet he was so calm. People said, "Look, here's someone who came to help someone, and then he got struck with stones and got wounded."
• However, he never felt physically injured since he continued to smile.
• And when he was questioned about why he was grinning, "See, these folks are displaying how much pain and strain they have had in their lives," he remarked.
• He persevered, and when everyone noticed that Angulimala was not responding and that he was still grinning, calm, and serene, he was successful. People get more intrigued when you don't respond.
• Since everyone experiences a typical reaction, they all feel content and joyful.
• Anguliamala then realised that the tranquility is being brought about by a single individual.
