There are many threats to wildlife in India due to the following reasons:

Fire- The sudden fire breaks in the forests also causing massive damage to the animals and plants

  • India being home to a large variety of animals and is a hotspot of biodiversity form the Himalayas in the north to the western ghats in the south. And along with accounts for 70% of the biodiversity of the world.  
  • The subcontinent has indigenous and unique populations of sloth bear,  Chausingha antelope, Barasingha, Asiatic lion and many of them are descendants of the Gondwana land.  
  • However, the events of volcanism and climate changes has made many extinct, and India consists of 3% of the IUCN threatened species. many of them have gone extinct in the wild due to the destruction of their habitats and hunting by man.
  • These various 103 biodiversity parks, 18 national reserves, and 535 wildlife sanctuaries have been made by the government for there protection.
  • India has launched various projects like the project tiger and made other wildlife protection acts and other community reserves like 32 elephant reserves.
