Mohandas karamchand Gandhi, Popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, Was born on 2 October 1569. He was a lawyer by profession. He could have practiced law and spent a comfortable life. However, He rather chose to fight the British by participating in India's struggle for freedom. He carried out various freedom movement and inspired several Indian citizens to join him in the same. These movements had a huge impact on the British.

Unlike various other leaders of his time, Gandhiji did not resort to violent and aggressive means to drive the British away. He took the part of truth and non violence and was supported by a large number of Indians. He played a major role in freeing India from the British rule.
