A Character Sketch of Mrs. Slater:
Mrs. Slater is the eldest daughter of Abel.
(a) Her greed: Mrs. Slater is so greedy that she goes to any extent to get what she wants. Instead of checking out her motionless father, she blindly thinks he is dead and arranges for the funeral. She is interested in his belongings and possessions. Her greed is so much that only she wants to enjoy her father’s possessions and doesn’t want to even share with a rightful sister.
(b) Her overpowering nature: She is so overpowering, does not listen to her husband or her daughter, goes by her instincts and orders her husband and daughter to obey her.
(c) Her straight talk: She is an opportunist and her talks reflect her self-interest. She talks without any politeness but with vulgarity. She talks without thinking that it may hurt others. She asks her sister whether she wants to look at her father first or to have tea first.
(d) Her impoliteness: She is a very impolite person. She is very rude and has no basic manners.
(e) Her lack of sense of feeling: Mrs. Slater simply lacks any feeling. She does not bother to check her father’s health. She wants to have everything for herself and does not love her sisters too.
