Bruno's house in Berlin was a multi-level spacious structure. The house had more than three floors and an attic. The attic had a little room with a window from which one could see all of Berlin. The floor below the attic had his parents' bedroom and a bathroom.

the new house had only three floors: a top floor where all three bedrooms were and only one bathroom, a ground floor with a kitchen, a dining room and a new office for Father (which, he presumed, had the same restrictions as the old one), and a basement where the servants slept.

Bruno does not like his new house. He thinks it is desolate and small and set in a place where there are no other houses. He also is sad there are no friends nearby
