First Part:
I was on a vacation with my family touring North India. We hired a taxi from Delhi and our driver Mr. Manjeet Singh was supposed to drive us to Amritsar. We had initially planned to visit the famous Golden Temple and come back to Delhi but he kept on insisting to visit the Wagah border. We agreed to his suggestion and reached the border around 5.30. Those of you who have not heard about the Wagah border, should Google it or read about it in Wikipedia. While going to Wagah border, I saw this milestone which said Lahore is 26 kilometers away. Man, I wish I could describe that feeling. I had some goosebumps already as I felt yes I am in India. This is the first part of it.

Second part :
The second part is after the evening parade started. Let me first tell you about the weather condition there. It was in the mid summer and the atmosphere was completely heated up. Literally heated up and also with the passion of the people around there. The soldiers there are more than 6 feet in height and march around with their head held high. The first thing I noticed was the no of people sitting in the Indian gallery. There were hundreds. There were men, women, children. There were boys, girls. There were people who came in their BMWs and also people who came on bicycles. There were songs being played and people danced to many patriotic tunes. There was as if a celebration was happening. The in charge officer there was also dancing with everyone and was celebrating. Some people had brought sweets and were distributing. I asked a person sitting beside me if it was any special occasion today. He told this kind of celebration happens throughout the year. I was amazed by seeing that. It was as if people are celebrating for being a part of India. I glanced on the other side, Pakistan gallery. There were around 10 people watching the parade and clapping at their soldiers.
It's not about the number of Indians or Pakistanis sitting there. It's about the enthusiasm people have in them. It's about coming out in open on a hot summer evening and cheering for your country. I am from Bangalore and never ever have I seen such patriotism in people except during cricket matches. That day I felt proud of my country. Now while writing this answer, I realize how difficult it is to mimic those feelings on paper.
