Answer: Balance in ecosystem means that living and non-living parts of ecosystem are in equilibrium. Living component is known as biotic ( like plants and animals) whereas non-living component is known as abiotic ( like temperature, soil, air, water).
Flow of energy within the ecosystem takes place through food chain. This includes the interaction of biotic and abiotic components also.
As a result, efficient cycling of nutrients in the ecosystem takes place and an equilibrium is maintained.
