Education can make one independent.In the story ''HOW I TAUGHT MY GRANDMOTHER TO READ'',when Sudha Murthy went to the neighbouring village,her grandma was alone in the house.One day the magazine came asusually but Sudha Murthy is not in the house and Krishtakka dont know to read or to write so she touched the lines to understand anything but she counl not do so.When Sudha Murthy came back to the house,she saw her grandmother in tears.She asked her grandmother about the eason of her tears.Krishtakka said that the magazine came asusually but there was no one to read the novel to her.This shows that as she was not well educated she was not able to read the novel,she was always dependent on her granddaughter.If  Krishtakka is educated,she might be able to read the novel.
