Diwali is the five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. The festival, which coincides with the Hindu New Year, celebrates new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness

Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana.

To celebrate, houses are decorated with candles and colourful lights and huge firework displays are held while families feast and share gifts. Diwali is the five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world.

Answer:

My Diwali celebration in simple past tense:

Diwali is celebrated to mark the victory of good over evil. It is believed that Lord Vishnu defeated demon Narakasura on the same day. In some parts of the country it is said Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya on the same day after defeating Ravana. In India it is a festival of lights.

We light the lamps with oil and sacred thread all over the place in our home to show our joy. We burst crackers as an expression of victory. In my home, my mother make different kind of sweets as an offering to God.

We also buy and wear new dresses on the Diwali day. We also meet our friends and relatives and share our food and joy with them. We seek the blessings of lord Vishnu through prayers.
