It was built Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It was built about twenty thousand workers. I visited the Taj Mahal last year with my parents during the summer vacations. We entered the huge red gateway and saw the beautiful white Taj Mahal some distance away from us.
