Odysseus is Homer’s hero in his epic poem ‘Odyssey’.

Odysseus is known for his role as counsellor and advisor to the Greek side, in the Trojan war as well as his heroics during his 10 years voyage back to Ithaca, to establish his place as the rightful King of Ithaca.

During this arduous voyage, he and his men are captured by the Cyclops Polyphemus, but manages to escape. They also get caught by the Laestrygonians, a tribe of man-eating giants. Odysseus once again manages to evade them and finally reach Ithaca after 10 years.
