"Yesterday was one of the strangest days in my life.
When I woke up in the morning I saw a bird with only one leg without any reason.
When I went to the school I found children crying without any reason.
When I went to the staff room I found teachers laughing without any reason.
When I went to the vegetable market i saw sellers shouting without any reason.
When I came back home two people were fighting without any reason.
When I went to sleep I could not get sleep without any reason."
For those who know, peace is bliss,
However, my life fits into the category of misfits
For those who expect happiness as normal,
My life's reality of sadness is what exists
Whats common is the shouting, screaming
Not the grinning from ear to ear with smiles wide beaming,
Whats common is the bloodbath and cries,
Not swaying young children to the sound of lullabies
Whats common here, is the riots and fires and bombing that we see
Not sleeping peacefully and knowing what it feels to be free
The life i just described was common for me
so its unusual to take shelter as a refugee and see
See them enjoying
Not seeing them crying
Witnessing them enjoy the center of gravity
when my life got spent most in calamity
I am from Syria
and this my story
which starts off as looking at the faces of all those who were gory.
