He was the 11th president of india from 2002 to 2007.A career sciscientistscientists scientists entist turned reluctant politician.Kalam was born and raised in Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu and studied phisics and aerospace engineering. He spent the next for decades as a scientist and science administory mainly at the defence research organisition (DRDO) and indian space research organisition (ISRO) and was intimately involved in indians civilian space programme and malitiery missile development efforts.He thus came to be known as the missile man of India for this work on the development of ballistic missle amd launch venicle technology.
