A report on the survey of five neighborhood colonies:
On the basis of the survey conducted in Rohini, Sector 15, Blocks A to E many factors came to light on their endeavor for environment protection. The residents of Block A come out as least mindful of the need for environmental protection. Along one side of A1, runs a sewage channel which emits a foul smell. Though they keep complaining, there is little effort on their part as they feel the problem is of too large a magnitude to be solved by their individual efforts.
The residents of Block B have kept up the greenery in their parks and surroundings. There is an association which looks into this and gives direction from time to time for better maintenance.
A similar effort is seen in Block D where the District Park is a model hub for environmental and individual development. The committee for environmental development monitors not only the cleanliness of the park but every pocket in the block which are seven in number. The public parks have enough dustbins and look greener and more beautiful with flower beds and hedges. They also take care of the fact that no trees are cut in the area.
Block C and E, though not totally dormant, show their awareness occasionally for the upkeep and protection of the environment. The Secretaries of different RWAs and residents of E block expressed their inability to plant more trees and keep up the park facing the market as there are too many people using the park for different religious meetings every now and then. Nevertheless, a general trend towards an increased awareness has been observed among the people and wherever there are youngsters coming in the forefront, they have shown a better result.
