14 February 2019 is a day that will remain etched forever in the collective memory of the Indian people. A large security convoy comprising of about 2500 security personnel was heading towards Srinagar was attacked by a suicide bomber in a vehicle at Lethpora near Awantipora, Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, about 3:15 PM. The explosion was so powerful that it was heard several kilometers away.The Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed terror group claimed responsibility for the attack.Around 39 to 44 security personnel were killed while others were seriously injured.
