Aligarh, November 13: "The democratic aspirations and values will continue to thrive in AMU with a strong WCSU in place as the university strongly believes that gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world," said the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor today while presiding over the Oath Ceremony of the newly elected Women's College Students Union (WCSU).
Prof Mansoor congratulated the newly elected office bearer and the cabinet members. He said that the welfare of students and development of the university will always be on his priority list and legitimate demands of the students will be heard and fulfilled.
"The best steps in the interest of AMU are of foremost importance to me", said the Vice Chancellor adding that the administration, students and teachers have to work hands-in-hands for the well being of the University.
Pro Vice Chancellor Prof MH Beg along with the Vice Chancellor did the honour of putting sashes to newly elected chairs; Afreen Fatima (President), Nahid Asad ( Vice President) and Memoona Ansari (Secretary).
Eight elected cabinet members; Afreen Khan, Aleena Rab, Afreen, Alveena Rehman, Naba Rehman, Hala Masroor, Sana Habib and Saima Shaukat were also felicitated with sashes on the occasion.
Congratulating the newly elected WCSU, Prof Naima Gulrez (Principal Women's College) said that oath taking ceremony is to acknowledge the winners, bestow them with their prospective positions in the union and responsibility to make democracy accessible in our daily life.
The Chief Election officer Prof Hina Perwaiz was also present on the occasion; the program was conducted by Dr Nazia Hasan.
