Answer:

Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies organised a Seminar on Water and Environment Conservation to create awareness for environmental issues particularly for water conservation on World Water Day.

There were 9 participants who spoke on various water conservation strategies and significance of World Water Day.

The Director, Prof. Dr. K.N.Sheth stated that the purpose of this seminar was to create awareness about the importance of water in our lives and show ways to conserve this most important source of life. He said that approximately 1.2 billion people lack reliable access to safe water that is free from disease and industrial waste. And 40 percent do not have access to adequate sanitation facilities. The result is one of the world’s greatest public health crises: 4,500 children die every day from waterborne diseases. The mission of the leaders should be to educate the young minds to build sustainable water systems by working alongside national organizations and prepare young professionals in sustainable community development. Further, the Key note speaker, Prof. Dr. K.N.Sheth sensitised the issue about scarcity of water and explained in detail various techniques for implementing water efficiency. He discussed about use of Low- flow faucets, toilets, vacuum toilets, use of mulch and pervious concrete.

A competition was organised on the Water conservation and the best and innovative ideas were given away. The first prize was awarded to Ms. Tammana Chouhan, followed by Ms. Preeti Paliwal and Mr. Raviraj Chouhan who stood second and third respectively.
