My grandfather was a Polish Jewish man who was born on May 16, 1923. At the age of 12 he lost his whole family to the Nazis. Fifeteen years later he found his family but his mom was shot by the Nazis. So it was just him and his two brothers that were left. When he was 17 he started working so he could provide for his brothers. A few years later he moved to Odessa and he found out that both of his brothers escaped the Nazis and moved. One of his brothers moved to Australlia and the other to the United states. He started a career as a tailor in Odessa. He was one of the best tailors in Odessa. At the age of 35 he got married. My granfather and my grandmother had two kids - a boy and a girl. They loved there kids dearly and they gave them everything they could. In 1989 my uncle immigrated to the United Stated and he invited us to come because he wanted his parents to have a better life. In May of 1992 we packed our bags and moved to the United States. In the beginnig it was hard because we didn't know the language and we were living in a one bedroom apartment with four people. One year later my parents started to ajust to the environment and sent me and my brother to school so we could have a better life. It was hard for us: we struggled for a while. Now my brother is a doctor and as for me I'm in school for nursing. As for my granfather he passed away 6 months ago because he got very ill. Its still tough for us to deal with it but time heals all pain.
