Dear Diary
Something very sad took place today. My parents had repeatedly told me not to make friends with the naughty boys of the village. But somehow I could not resist it when one of them told me that there were a number of ripe mangoes on the tree in the neighbourhood and that the owner was out of station. So they were all going to steal the mangoes. I joined them. Unfortunately the owner returned and we were caught. I did not tell anyone about it.
Today morning when my parents asked me about it, to save myself from being scolded by them, I had to speak a lie. I said that I did not even know that there were mangoes growing in the neighbour's garden.
They believed me, but I am feeling so guilty that I have betrayed my parents who have so much faith in my words. I feel so ashamed. I wish I had the courage to tell the truth.
