The British found the system not to their liking and wanted to change it by introducing new rules and regulations Adam was a missionary, minister and a Harvard Professor. Born in Scotland, he became a missionary in 1818 and travelled to Bengal. Initially his aim was to learn Bengali and translate the New Testament into Bengali.
