The opposite of ductility is brittleness, where a material breaks when tensile stress is applied to lengthen it. Some examples of brittleness are metal, glass, plastic, cast iron, cast aluminium, tungsten carbide, dried clay. It also means having hardness and rigidity but little tensile strength, breaking readily with a comparatively smooth fracture.....
