• Desert plants also have long roots that go deep in the soil to sap water and control erosion. The leaves and stems lower the surface velocity and checks soil erosion.  

• The plant cover is generally sparse and diverse.  Saguaro, Golden barrel cactus, Ocotillo, Joshua tree Brittle bush, Desert ironwood are some of the plants found in deserts.
