Jammu and Kashmir is a state in northern India. It is located mostly in the Himalayan mountains, and shares a border with the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the south. Jammu and Kashmir has an international border with China in the north and east, and the Line of Control separates it from the Pakistan-controlled territories of Azad Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir consists of three regions: Jammu, the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh , and is further divided into 22 districts. Srinagar is the summer capital, and Jammu is the winter capital. The population of J&K has a mosaic demographic composition compromising of people belonging to various linguistic,ethnic religious and regional identities.It encompasses various lifestyle and habits of the citizens that inhabit in regions of ladhak, jammu and kashmir.The people share many different identities as well as similarities.The identities however crosscut each other which in part provide the basis for harmonious interaction across different cultural groups.Ethinically different share same religious identity while as different regional identities share same religious and linguistic features.
That is why, Jammu and Kashmir is regarded as a dissolving vessel of diverse cultures.
