If we have compound A covalently bonded to B then you know 2 electrons are shared therefore if A and B are of similar electronegativity then on fission one electron goes to A and other electron will go to B...
This is known as homolytic cleaveage/ fission....
Why homolytic?
Because same number of electrons are given to both the elements...
