Human circulatory system is also known as the blood vascular system. It consists of a muscular four chambered, a network of closed branching blood vessels and the fluids which are circulated.
• The whole heart is made up of a specialised muscle called Cardiac muscle. A specialised cardiac musculature called the nodal tissue is also distributed in the human heart. A patch of this tissue called the Sino-atrial node(SAN) is present in the upper right corner of the right atrium. Another atrio-ventricular node (AVN) is present in the lower left corner of the right atrium only. AVN is very close to the atrio-ventricular septum.
• Human heart perform double circulation it means that blood passes twice through the heart.
There are mainly two types of Circulation occur in human body i.e.
1). Pulmonary Circulation
In this circulation the deoxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary artery is passed to the lungs from where the oxygenated blood is carried by the Pulmonary Veins into the Left atrium.
2). Systematic Circulation
The oxygenated blood entering the aorta is carried by a network of artries, arterioles and capillaries to the tissues from where the deoxygenated blood is collected by a system of branched venules, veins and vena cava and then emptied into the right atrium.

i). Renal Portal System
In fishes and amphibians, renal portal system is also found which is reduced in reptiles and birds and absent in mammals.
ii). Hypophyseal portal System
Hypophyseal portal vein collects blood from the hypothalamus and enters the anterior lobe of pituitary.
iii). Hepatic portal circulation
A portal vein together with small veins through which receives blood is called Portal System. The flow of deoxygenated blood from the digestive organs to the liver before returning to the systematic Circulation is called Hepatic Portal Circulation.
iv). Coronary Circulation
The flow of oxygenated blood from the ascending aorta to the heart muscles and return of deoxygenated blood from heart muscles to the right atrium is called Coronary Circulation or Cardiac Circulation.
