He is famous for his theory of atoms. Dalton was born on 6 September 1766 in Eaglesfield, Cumbria, England. ... Then in 1793 Dalton was offered a position as professor of mathematics and philosophy at Manchester Academy. The same year, 1793 he published his first work, Meteorological Reflections And Essays.

John Dalton was born in a poor weaver's family in 1766in England. He began his career as a teacher at the age of twelve. Seven years later he become a school principal. In 1793 , Dalton left Manchester to teach mathematics, physics and chemistry in a collage. He spent most of his life there teaching and researching. In 1808, he presented his atomic theory which was a turning point in the study of matter.
