The president is the highest official in India and is also referred as the head of the state and is elected for a fixed term of five years and can also be re-elected but the president acts on the advice of the prime minister.
and a short note on governor is:
The Governor is appointed by the President for a term of five years and holds office so long as he enjoys his confidence and also governor has the power to recommend to the President imposition of State emergency, and reserving State Bills for Presidential assent.
