When an object vibrates, then the air molecules close to the object also starts to vibrate. These vibrating air molecules pass on their motion to the next layer of air molecule. This chain continues. And ultimately, all the air molecules around the object start vibrating. When the vibrating molecules fall on our ears, the ear feel these vibrations as sound.

vibrating object pushes and compresses air in contact and creates high pressure region (compression c) compression moves away from object which moves back and create low pressure (rarefraction) . A series of C and R propagate sound which ultimately reaches our ears
