Robert Clive came to India in 1743. when he left in 1767 his Indian fortune worth 401,102 pounds. He was appointed governor of bengal in 1764. He was asked to remove corruption in company administration but was cross examined in 1772 by British parliament. Although he was adiquitted, he committed suicide in 1774
